An avid photographer, André Minard traveled the city both before and after the war. A witness to his era, this indefatigable Caen globe-trotter has left us a formidable record of the Norman city. The author of hundreds of photographs, some in color, taken after the war, André Minard also produced numerous videos during the Reconstruction period. In 2019, André Minard?s daughter, Paule Minard, and his niece, Ségolène Placé, decided to donate part of the family collection to the Musée de Normandie.
It was from this collection that the idea of the "Petite expo" devoted to the photographer was born. It's an opportunity to discover or re-discover the city from a new angle, with previously unseen archives and a few objects (film reels), which enabled André Minard to create a portrait of the city that blends intimacy with historical value.
